Property Description: This enchanting cottage is nestled amongst native trees and natural surrounds and even has its own bubbling little brook that cascades over the river rocks that wind their way down along the verandah and deck area.
Although the style of architecture has been likened to the 'Ginger-bread House' of fairytale fame, with its high-pitched roof and the radially sawn timber cladding that make it appear to be melting, it has a distinct 'nautical' theme reflected throughout. In fact once inside, the ambience is that of an old 'Square-Rigger' ship, while every mod con has been thoughtfully incorporated. The attention to detail is obvious; from the luxury bathroom appointments and the stainless steel European kitchen appliances, to the romantic fire that alights at the flick of a switch.
With over two years from design to completion, the passion with which the cottage was built shows through everywhere you look. Environmentally friendly materials and practices were used wherever possible in the construction process, and through much salvaging and recycling, almost every fixture and fitting in the cottage holds a story, contributing to its unique character. In a creative yet functional harmony that is both tactile and visual, aged natural timbers are blended with more modern materials like stainless steel, ceramic and glass.
Aireys Overboard is ideally located within walking distance of everything the wonderful hamlet of Aireys Inlet has to offer.
Overboard Seaside Cottages now has a second cottage in nearby Anglesea. This single storey cottage is ideal for a couple as a stylish, intimate retreat. Beautifully appointed with a spa, wood fire and outdoor deck with barbecue… a perfect alternative to Aireys Overboard just for two.
