Property Description: This wonderful house is imbued with great beauty and a 100-year-old pedigree. Traditional weatherboards, hipped roofline and wooden verandahs give the facade the unmistakable profile of a true country home. The use of warm greys and white trim paint colours provides a subtle complement to the changing colours of the garden. At over an acre, the setting has all the charm of a meandering country garden, with a diverse collection of flowers, shrubs and trees that provide alluring colour and scent through the changing seasons.
A covered walkway leads to the front door beyond which is the living-dining room. A 3-seater vintage leather sofa and matching armchairs are teamed with beautiful rugs, cushions and throws. The dining table is pure country kitchen casual, positioned in front of a gas log fire. The traditional fire surround and chimney wall have been featured in dusky red. Picture windows frame views of the gardens. Off the dining area is another large room with a second gas log fire. This room is a retreat in its own right, being the main bedroom and library room, with sitting area and television, as well as double doors to the verandah. There is a main bathroom, a second bedroom with an ensuite, and then a third bedroom.
Coloured leadlights, white plantation shutters and polished timber floors feature in several parts of the house. The country style kitchen is a long room with a meals area at one end overlooking the garden and fish pond. Striking black and white floor tiles are used here and in the bathroom to great effect. The kitchen has direct access to another verandah. At the back of the house is a classic sunroom that captures the morning rays. It is furnished with provincial wicker chairs and a marble topped table.
The interior design co-ordinates an ensemble of vintage elements with an appreciation of modern lightness, space and luxury.
