Property Description:
Leaving the main road and traffic noise well behind, the two-acre property is located at the top of Mt Dandenong where the forest wraps around the mountain offering a network of shady walking tracks. From the crest of the property's magnificent 70-year-old English gardens, guests can gaze at the incredible panorama dominated by the not so distant Melbourne city skyline. The broad lawn clearing offers a perfect vantage point to observe the sun setting slowly in the west. Stone paths and steps invite guests to wander through the dazzling spring display of azaleas and rhododendrons.

The property is home to seven self-contained guest retreats from suites to cottages.

Coorabell Retreat occupies a contemporary barn conversion situated in a secluded corner of the property. Floor to ceiling windows in the lounge and spa bathroom offer intimate forest outlooks and a private courtyard provides for even more intimacy with the beautiful forest surrounds. The modern interior styling extends to a superb kitchen and an upstairs bedroom featuring a king size bed.

Arnica Manor Retreat is contained in the original residence built in the 1930s. A massive stone fireplace, beautiful parquetry floors, exposed beams, big picture windows and smaller leadlight windows are complemented with elegant furnishings. The original Aga cooker, set into the kitchen chimney, has been retained for its interest, while a beaut new country-style kitchen has it all.

Arnica Loft is an apartment style retreat with its entry at ground level into the wood-panelled lounge which features a gas log fireplace. The dining room and kitchen are adjacent. Heading upstairs to the "Loft" level there is a separate bathroom, a walk-in robe and a beautiful, spacious bedroom with a king size bed, a double spa and a balcony.

The Barn offers a different ambience - full of "Australian Outback" character. This self-contained, rustic cottage for two is tucked away in a corner of the garden, behind a picket fence. But don't expect the old claw foot bath because a double spa in the main living area is definitely more indulgent before retiring to the romantic loft bedroom.

A charming, gabled, timber building houses the collection of romantic suites. The Sunset Suite occupies the top floor. Entry is via a flight of external stairs to the suite's balcony where a magic view to the west gives this premium suite its name. The two cosy, romantic Arnica Suites are at ground level with garden views. Each suite is fully self-contained and private, with a traditional style bed (four poster or canopied), a double spa, a comfortable sitting area and a well equipped kitchen/dining area.

Special Features:
In-room dining can be arranged, with meals delivered by a local restaurant, or gourmet platters, local wines and Australian and imported beers.
By appointment, expert massage therapists can offer relaxing massage treatments in your suite.

Description of Rooms/Units:

Coorabell (pictured above and right) has a contemporary style interior with modern furniture and sophisticated facilities. The 42 inch LCD television can be seen from the spa and the lounge. The sound system is piped throughout the building, including the upstairs bedroom with its king size bed. The air-conditioned cottage has a wood fire and a sleek, modern kitchen.

Arnica Manor Retreat has an open wood fire on the opposite wall to the king size bed. A couch and television make this the main living room with a separate kitchen, complete with dishwasher, and a spacious dining room. The double spa is located in the bathroom. The retreat also has full laundry facilities.

Arnica Loft also has a king size bed in a beautiful loft bedroom opening onto a balcony. The spa is in the bedroom. A full kitchen, dining room and lounge room with polished floors, timber panelling and a gas log fire occupy the ground floor.

The Barn is a secluded freestanding cottage set in a private garden. It has a queen size bed in the loft, a balcony and a spacious living room with a spa, gas log fire and polished floors. Country antiques feature in the kitchen. The cottage also has air-conditioning and a barbecue.

Sunset Suite is a sophisticated attic-style suite with stunning views, private balcony, spa in the main room, leather chesterfield sofa, four-poster bed and air-conditioning.

The Arnica Suites have ornamental ceiling details. One has a four-poster bed and the other has a romantic white canopy over the bed.

Every retreat has high definition television with DVD and CD player.
The suites are appointed with queen size bed, double spa, kitchenettes with fridge, microwave oven and hotplates.

Meals

Breakfast: A generous selection of fresh and organic hot and cold breakfast provisions and fruit basket is supplied in each suite.

Dining Options: In-house dining available. Additionally, the fully refurbished SkyHigh Restaurant Mt Dandenong is within easy strolling distance. Alternatively Olinda village has beautiful taverns, restaurants and cafes.
