"Unbelievable hideaways, unexpected luxury, unlike anything else…"

big blue backyard represents a truly tranquil paradise for guests to relax and unwind at a unique and secluded bed and breakfast. The property is sheltered by National Park through which is Bass Strait and the wild St Andrews Beach where long walks will reinvigorate the senses.

Choose between the exotic African hideaway and the Beach hideaway with its seaside theme. These luxury hideaways have all the characteristics to make your stay at big blue backyard a delicious experience in more ways than one.

Property Description:
The property backs onto the long coastal stretch of Mornington Peninsula National Park that runs from Cape Schanck all the way to Point Nepean at the entrance to Port Phillip Bay. And beyond the wedge of national park, the swell of the ocean rolls in to a wide sandy beach, ergo your "big blue backyard". Don't be surprised to have a kilometre of beach all to yourself.

In this secluded part of the Peninsula, owners Paul and Lisa have combined their talent and passion to create a unique B&B getaway. Nestled in the ti-tree, the two guest hideaways have been built independently of the main house. Even the driveways are separate. The main house can be reached via boardwalks through the vegetation and this is how the mouth watering dishes, prepared in the "big blue kitchen", arrive at your hideaway.

The contemporary buildings use corrugated iron, timber sheets and stone to create a beautiful interplay of textures that fit comfortably into the coastal environment. The hideaways feature dramatic barrel vaulted ceilings. Each one opens onto its own private deck with a sunken double spa bath. The ultra spacious interiors are carried through to the ensuites with their extra large showers. The external deck area includes an outdoor shower (very handy after returning from the beach) and an outdoor dining setting that beautifully complements the individual theme of each hideaway.

The African Hideaway is distinguished by vibrant colours in the textiles of bed cover, cushions and wall decorations. The timber floor is inlaid with a special border of African design. Masks and distinctive furniture render an evocative safari atmosphere.

The Beach Hideaway is altogether softer in its colour palette reflecting the sun-bleached hues of a seaside landscape together with soft blue accents. Driftwood has been incorporated to marvellous effect in the interior design.

Special Features:
In house Chef, Paul Dempsey, brings a masterful flair to the food that is created in the "big blue kitchen". Breakfasts each morning are unique and delicious (not traditional). For guests who wish to take full advantage of the situation and dine in, they can choose from a tempting evening menu and have dinner served to their hideaway. Gourmet lunch platters and picnic hampers are also available.
