Property Description: In the north of the Yarra Valley vineyards give way to open pasture and the forested slopes of picturesque Kinglake National Park. Brockspur Eco-Farm nestles at the end of a hidden valley enclosed by the Park providing a wonderful backdrop to every vista. The property covers 50 acres with paddocks of horses, sheep and goats as well as bush corridors for wildlife and an extensive permaculture garden.
The main farmhouse is built on two levels, with the hosts in residence on the lower level while the upper level is completely self-contained. Called the Loft House, it is reserved for the exclusive use of guests and comfortably accommodates ten with its own kitchen, TV room and dining room. Access is via a wheel chair friendly ramp direct from the parking area. The Loft House has a homely appeal with good simple furnishings, plenty of large windows to let in the light, balconies and a big private verandah, in addition to use of the property's many shared garden areas.
There is also a separate Studio Cottage that sleeps 2 to 3 that is available for a variety of circumstances, such as overflow with extra large groups, or as an adults' quiet retreat, or as an alternative for a booking for three or fewer.
|
Special Features: The sustainable farm engages in a wide range of interests. Your hosts are happy to show guests around and especially encourage children to join in the morning routine of feeding the animals and milking the goats. There are free-range chooks that provide eggs, sheep and goats that provide wool for spinning. There is a special 'gem fossicking' sandpit for children with toys and books for wet days indoors.
Adults may like to sample the naturally brewed beer produced by the Hargraves Hill Microbrewery located on the property. Organic vegetables and fruit are grown for family and guests, and a commercial kitchen is under construction to prepare meals.
