Property Description:
As you wend your way along the final stretch of coast to the small seaside town of Apollo Bay, a band of farmland carpets the slopes to your right, disappearing into the treeline of the Otway Ranges. On your left the broad curve of Apollo Bay sweeps around to the cluster of buildings in the township only a few kilometres away. In this rural belt, sitting above the Great Ocean Road is the B&B, Castaways. The modern house is built of timber and designed with curves reflecting the undulations of land and sea. Massive timber posts, solid as the piers of a jetty, support the deck, providing a perfect hitching place for a hammock.
The owners' residential quarters occupy the top level, allowing maximum privacy for the ground level guest rooms. There are two self contained guest rooms located side by side at the front, so each one has a panoramic view of the coast. The guest rooms open onto a deck featuring deck chairs and hammock. Sliding glass doors and windows, almost as large again, make certain you can see plenty from inside the room and even from bed. With the waves of Apollo Bay's surf only 300 metres away you can also hear the ocean pounding or caressing the beach according to the conditions of the day.
The unique interior design favours a rugged nautical feel with handmade hardwood furniture, driftwood style picture frames, and timber floors, all of which fit with the 'castaway' theme. There's no shortage of luxury however, with especially spacious facilities, such as room size, ensuite shower size and king size bed (naturally).

Description of Rooms/Units:
Each self-contained guest room is identical.
The bed is king size and all linen is provided. By arrangement an additional person can be accommodated on a rollout single bed at a small extra charge. A portable cot can be provided free of charge.
The luxury ensuite features a roomy walk-in double shower.
The rooms are furnished with a two-seater lounge, a dining table and chairs, and equipped with a 68cm television, DVD, CD player and reverse cycle air conditioning.
Kitchen facilities provided in each room include a microwave, a small fridge, kettle and toaster.
Private entrance to the rooms is through the sliding glass doors to the deck. |
