Property Description: The prestigious Yering property has more than a hint of southern European panache about it. Villa Raedward itself dominates the hilltop in the background. Dramatically landscaped gardens cascade down the slope to the large, flat, grassed terrace in front of The Gatehouse. The formal elements of the two-acre garden are most apparent right here with a grand fountain, in the shape of an urn, taking centre stage on an axis that plays directly to The Gatehouse as well as the more distant Villa. Cypress spires, statuary, hedges and Mediterranean planting feature in the landscaping while the borrowed landscape of farmland, native trees and mountains beyond, create the signature Yarra Valley panorama.
The architectural design of The Gatehouse is distinctively contemporary and comprises two mirror image, self-contained units either side of a common wall that provides ample privacy to each. The rear face of the building traces a full arc punctuated by windows in the sandstone wall. The roofline peaks at the front and overhangs the patio outside each apartment. Two sets of tall french doors open onto the patio and frame the vista of the garden and distant ranges.
Each unit or suite is designed for a couple. The appointments are luxurious and stylish. Double sliding doors separate the queen bedroom from the living room which incorporates a very well equipped kitchen and dining area. The bathroom is especially indulgent, featuring beautiful marble tiles and a double spa with a large picture window onto an enclosed, ornamental courtyard space. The "Yarra Suite" has a Japanese themed courtyard garden that can also be seen from the kitchen window. The interior colour palette favours pewter/ light grey hues. The "Melba Suite" incorporates gold/ copper tones in its colour scheme and its courtyard teems with ferns.
|
Special Features: Guests are treated to a range of complimentary items such as a bottle of Yarra Valley bubbly, Kennedy and Wilson chocolates, port, a selection of Twinings' teas, personal slippers and more!
The gardens at Villa Raedward are being enhanced continually to create an ever more picturesque and interesting place to enjoy. Guests are most welcome to explore the entire garden.
