Property Description: Harvest House is a fully restored 1920s farmhouse located on a small farm property. A focus of the 18-acre Harvest Farm is a large kitchen garden growing exclusively for the Healesville Hotel. As well, there are a few cows and chickens and a small orchard.
Set in its own private garden of oaks, camelias and roses, the farmhouse has been transformed into a picture of provincial charm far more luxurious than its humble origins. Whitewashed surfaces inside and out, including the floors, creates a distinct light, breezy mood. Everything else either blends quietly into the 'whitewashed look' or stands out in bold relief, like the rich chocolate suede couch, deep blue bedding accents, the bright colours of the fresh flowers inside and the landscape outside.
The open plan living room features a romantic wood fire and French doors onto a terrace dining area. The front of the house has a big, old-fashioned country porch to while away the afternoon enjoying views of pastureland against a mountain backdrop. Beautiful details and luxury fittings are evident throughout the rooms, including king size beds and a spa bathroom.
|
Special Features: The house is readied for guests with masses of flowers from the garden, handmade local soap and fresh ground coffee and tea leaves.
There are many possibilities for food lovers to indulge their desires. The Healesville Harvest Produce Store at the Hotel has a menu of in-house catering and wines that can be set awaiting your arrival at the house, or you can arrange a tantalising dinner 'to go' from the Hotel's kitchen. You can even have a private chef prepare a very special dinner for two or more.
Guests are free to wander through the produce garden and talk to the gardener as he tends the plot. Fresh herbs and free-range eggs may be collected to use in the kitchen at the house.
|
Recreational Facilities: Equipment is provided for informal games of petanque, cricket, frisbee and badminton that can be played on vast sprawling grassed areas near the house.
