The Yarra Valley is easily one of Victoria's most popular destinations for lovers of good food and good wine. And what better way to savour the finer things of the region than in the company of good friends. Healesville Garden can be your own private country house in the Yarra Valley, for a weekend or longer. It's simply the perfect place to spend time with friends... around the dinner table, lounging by the fire, out on the deck or in the spa under the stars. It offers total comfort and luxury facilities for up to six couples or a family group of up to 12.

Property Description:
Ripe with history and a marvellous renovation, this six-bedroom, Victorian-period country house has much to offer. In bygone years it was known as Egremont Guesthouse owned by the Lowes family (for whom the road is named). The sprawling weatherboard house is almost entirely circumnavigated by a charming country verandah; the whole building all but hidden within a dense, botanically diverse garden. Bench seats are scattered along the front and side verandah, and several of the six bedrooms have both external and internal doors.

The lounge and dining areas are located at the rear of the house, where they capture the perfectly framed, valley and mountain views. Here the verandah has been sympathetically extended into a very substantial deck. Part of this outdoor entertaining deck has a beautifully built canopy. With similar valley views, a second lower deck contains the twelve seater spa.

The honey colour of the original polished floor boards inside is mirrored in the verandah's roof lining. Timber wainscoting and architraves in crisp white throughout the home provide a light framework against which a little colour adds individuality to different rooms. The stylish, mostly contemporary furniture is complemented with carefully chosen antiques to add a provincial touch.

The oversized leather lounge furniture is a fitting match for the massive freestanding wood burner. To suit each occasion, occupants can sit down to meals at the 12 seater dining table, or the outdoor dining setting or even the long table in the farmhouse style kitchen.

Special Features:
The house occupies a private section of a larger 65 acre property. Beyond the botanical gardens surrounding the homestead, there are pastures with cows and miniature horses (fond of attention), a large dam with fish, resident chooks (collect fresh laid eggs) and tranquil nature walks through native bushland where local wildlife can be seen.
