What better way to appreciate the beauty of historic Maldon than by staying in one of her lovely period homes. Heatherlie is supremely comfortable having been restored and renovated with great flair and personal devotion. Excellent cooking and dining facilities are one of the reasons this is a great place to share time away with friends. The main house can accommodate up to three couples. The recent addition of a separate, self-contained Pool House offers romantic accommodation for a couple on their own or a fourth couple when booked together with the main house. |

Property Description: The c1880 Victorian home fits well within Maldon’s highly acclaimed reputation for its extensive collection of heritage architecture. Signature features include the bullnose front verandah with wrought iron lace decoration, 12' baltic pine and cedar lined ceilings and Victorian fireplaces with slate hearths. The renovation and interior design is clearly the product of a labour of personal pride. Robyn has also restored the wooden furniture herself and created decorative art for the walls that is eclectic yet understated. Antiques, family heirlooms and locally crafted items make the interior design all the more unique. Soft colours throughout the house compliment the honey tones of the polished baltic pine floors. The beautiful heritage character of the home and contents is highlighted with a stylish restraint more typical of a contemporary setting. Each bedroom is individually decorated within the provincial theme. Treasured pieces include a rare antique brass bed, a cedar wardrobe and spindle back rocking chair. One of the bedrooms has an open fire.
There is a formal dining room with an open fire for long, cosy dinners, or outdoor dining under cover of the back verandah by the swimming pool where there is a large built-in barbecue. The kitchen is equipped as well or better than many fulltime homes, with space to sit around the kitchen bench. A number of rooms have open fireplaces including the large comfortable lounge and the separate reading room which has french doors to the side garden.
The swimming pool was added in 2006 along with a self-contained Pool House to the side. The Pool House is very evocative of the rustic patina of Provincial French architecture. It offers romantic accommodation for one couple with a mezzanine bedroom above a spacious living room that combines kitchen and dining areas. A large open fireplace dominates the room and french doors open onto the pool area on one side or a private courtyard on the other.
Both buildings are set amidst a large garden where the owners' keen interests are also apparent. Spring flowering daffodils, 1500 of them, line the driveway and appear in old polished coppers in the back yard under the graceful golden elm before it bursts into leaf. In summer a hammock hangs in the shade of its canopy.
