King Parrot overlooks the pristine Pennyroyal Valley from the edge of the Otway Ranges. With abundant wildlife, forest walks and breathtaking scenery King Parrot represents an ideal romantic retreat for couples in the luxury spa cottages, or a nature and fun-filled family holiday in one of the larger houses, each one with beautiful views of the valley or the forest.

Property Description:
Each architect designed dwelling, on this 200 acre bushland property, has been built with a feel for the landscape. Every one offers something different. The natural surrounds are echoed in the rustic building elements that have been executed with care and attention to guest comfort. Polished recycled timbers feature widely. In some cottages you can see exposed timber ceilings or roof trusses. Some of the bathrooms capture an Australian heritage theme that is full of character. King size beds with crisp white sheets and warm feather doonas can be found in every double bedroom. Slow burning wood fires give warmth and cosy ambience. The kitchens are well equipped with gas cooktops and microwaves. The larger dwellings, Mannagum and The Lodge also have full ovens. Each cottage is comfortably furnished and equipped with a television, DVD and CD player.

Special Features:
King Parrot backs onto the national park with many bushwalking tracks for guests to explore, on and from the property. There are two dams with lots of yabbies and the creek has freshwater crayfish and black trout.
King Parrot has six friendly domestic animals - three alpacas and three horses - who are fed daily.

Function / Conference Facilities:
A convention room is available for weddings, yoga retreats and corporate functions. The peaceful bush environment, where the only sounds are those of the birds, is ideal for quiet reflection and contemplation, a perfect setting for any sort of residential wellness retreat.

The Hall is a 12m x 6m large space, with polished floorboards, heating and cooling, and stunning views of the Pennyroyal Valley from the outside deck. Full catering can be provided by King Parrot or many excellent kitchens facilities are available for self catering.

The Conference Centre has all the accoutrements for a successful seminar, including white boards, flip charts, overhead projectors, data projectors, large video screens etc. Up to 30 live-in attendees can be accommodated.

Recreational Facilities:
Tennis court, swimming pool, minigolf and a games room with table tennis and pool tables.

Description of Rooms/Units:


Cottages for Two
The spa cottages, Windmill and Blackwood are designed on three levels.
Windmill has the living area on the top level opening to a deck. The bathroom is on the intermediate level and a spacious bedroom on ground level.
Blackwood, on the other hand, has the bedroom up top and the living area at ground level opening onto a lush lawn area bordered by native bush. Both cottages have outdoor spa tubs and barbecues.

Accommodation for Families or Groups
The very private Aquila Cottage sleeps up to 6. Upstairs are two spacious bedrooms, a bathroom and a separate area with a double bunk opening onto a sunny deck. Downstairs is the kitchen and living area which looks out to a beautiful grassy area with the forest on one side. An outdoor pavilion houses a barbecue area.

Bluegum sleeps up to 8. This cottage is nestled in gum trees on the highest point of the property. The split level dwelling has three bedrooms and two bathrooms. An open plan kitchen and living area, on the lower level, opens onto the garden which has a gas barbecue and outdoor table with benches.

Mannagum is a big rambling 4-bedroom house that sleeps up to 10 in comfort and it has a big kitchen to suit. The deck off the spacious living area overlooks a beautiful part of the forest, featuring a very large mannagum tree. The house has two large bathrooms between three bedrooms, with king size beds, and another bedroom with four single beds. (This cottage has wheelchair access).

For even larger groups, The Lodge and Hall can provide accommodation for up to 14 - three couples in three separate bedrooms in the Lodge, and a dormitory setup of eight beds in the attached Hall. The Lodge has ample living and dining space for all, plus three bathrooms and a commercial size kitchen. The lounge room has a reverse cycle air conditioner, a log fire, TV, VCR, CD player and pool table. The whole complex has extensive outdoor decks, with barbecues and outdoor seating with views over the valley.

King Parrot also has a Campground offering four pre-erected tents and three campsites. A permanent camp-fireplace and barbecue area is there to be shared by campers.

Breakfast: Self cater
Dining Options: Bring your favourite ingredients and self cater. Martians Caf￿n Deans Marsh has big breakfasts, casual lunch or dinner. Another local restaurant has a fine quality lunch menu. Lorne, home to many good restaurants and caf￿ is only 20 mins.
Guest BBQ Facilities: Private gas barbecue located at each dwelling.
