Nature Lovers Nook offers local and international guests an opportunity to immerse themselves in a secluded hideaway amidst a bush landscape that is home to a great diversity of the Mornington Peninsula's indigenous flora and fauna, including the unusual trunkless grass trees. Visitors are regularly thrilled by the sight of kangaroos and nocturnal marsupials, apart from the day's passing parade of birds.
Wildlife or not, Nature Lovers Nook is an ultimately peaceful getaway that feels far away from everything. Sometimes it's hard to believe you're still in the neighbourhood of wineries, golf courses, bay and surf beaches and tourist spots. |

Property Description: This 10-acre property lies down an unsealed road and off a lane that otherwise leads to a little known but significant bush reserve. In recent years the area has been proclaimed a green wedge zone. The inner sanctum of the property is marked by a waist-high fence within which is the permaculture landscaped garden. An organic orchard and vegetable garden are located behind the cottage. A clutch of domestic ducks, hens and bantams provides eggs among other benefits for the veggie garden. Exotic cottage plants close to the buildings give way to Australian plant species as the gardens fan out to the boundary in ever more indigenous plantings until the garden blends into pristine native woodlands.
The largest of three cottages on the property is set up for guests on an exclusive basis. The mud brick and timber building has two very large rooms at the front; the living room and the enormous breakfast room. Both have bay windows onto the full-length verandah, which is draped in climbers and bordered by garden beds. Along the back of the cottage are the two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The living room features a large open fire and has vaulted timber-lined ceilings with an overhead fan. Earthy colours and natural textures are used throughout. Aboriginal art expresses a further connection with Australia's indigenous environment.

Special Features: Nature Lovers Nook is in a unique position to provide guests with a special Australian bush experience on the Mornington Peninsula. Woods Reserve is in a virtually hidden location, known mostly to serious bird watchers for its significant diversity of birdlife. The reserve abuts the property on two sides. Near one of these boundaries, the property has a a wetlands area that attracts birds, frogs and kangaroos. Escorted evening wildlife spotting can be organised .
