Property Description: The contemporary house is set on a hillside property of 20 acres, two thirds of which is retained virgin bush. The surrounding pristine Otway Ranges form an engulfing panorama of great natural beauty, just as if you were perched in a lookout. The house has its own extensive native garden setting, punctuated by mature gum trees and a collection of serene garden statues.
The interior of the house captures the ambience of a boutique art gallery. An explosion of vibrant colour on the walls, and in the hand made leather couches, is offset by the subtle colours of nature elsewhere. Naturally oiled jarrah floors, the cathedral ceiling, the mezzanine balustrade, the staircase, general architectural fittings and red gum furniture incorporate natural wood grain in abundance. The stunning view forms a floor to ceiling virtual mural the length of an entire wall, while original man made artwork and sculptures also decorate the space. Many distinctive lamps positioned around the house enhance the mood lighting options. The total effect is a very personalised appreciation of art and nature, and how the two are able to produce a contemplative ambience.
The vast mezzanine has a sitting area at one end, with ultra modern steel and leather furniture and a home theatre system. A partition wall separates this area from the mezzanine bedroom, which overlooks the dining space. The large open plan kitchen offers plenty of bench space with cupboards that continue the timber theme. The main deck runs the length of the house. Safety glass insets in the deck balustrade ensure the view is given prominence. To the side of the house is a clearing with a picnic bench style setting and bird feeding bowls that attract some colourful local birdlife.
