Property Description: Lorne's premier arts venue Qdos nestles in a hushed forest valley that extends into the Lorne-Angahook State Park. Sprinkled among the slender eucalyptus trunks that reach skywards are five freestanding "Treehouses" perched on the slope above the gallery. Paths paved with sawn bluestone lead individually to the treehouses.
The Treehouses are simple structures accented with metal and timber elements against their otherwise matt black exteriors. Angles in the flat sloping rooves, the asymmetrical sun decks and the position and elevation of the buildings, relative to the ground, altogether create a stark sculptural impression. Inside and outside there is an obvious Japanese architectural influence. Shoji screens, futon style beds, tatami matting and overt minimalism define the interiors. The finish, down to the smallest detail, is a work of aesthetic beauty, in harmony with nature's own meticulous beauty that surrounds.
