Nestled in the idyllic Trawool valley above the meandering Goulburn River and just out of Seymour, The Shed Cafe and Cottages provides a romantic getaway for couples.

The days can be spent in idle serenity sitting by the fire in winter, or on the verandah in warm weather enjoying the outlook. Or you may want to venture out and explore some of the area's secret gems. In the evening, what could be more convenient and indulgent than a sumptuous meal and fine local wines at The Shed Cafe, with a leisurely stroll back to your private cottage for the night?

Property Description:
Set on the hillside in a 10-acre garden of historical significance, the cottages are privately sited well away from other buildings. The garden abounds with roses, lavender and annuals. The trees are magnificent, some of which were planted well over a hundred years ago, consisting of Eucalypts, conifers, the rare Ombu and other exotics which provide a vivid display of colour during autumn. Year round the gardens attract a wide variety of birdlife; parrots of all colours, tiny wrens, currawongs and cockatoos, flying out of the valley to graze and returning at the end of the day for a safe haven to roost.

The attractive cottages are classic, timber, country cottages. The unpainted weatherboards are nicely complemented by a combination of heritage paint colours for the trim. The furnished, large, front verandah has a slightly bull-nosed roof and painted lattice balustrade. The garden not only provides a wonderful outlook but also frames the cottages in picturesque beauty.

The cottage interiors are open plan and spacious with the sleeping area at one end. In the lounge area, the flue of the enclosed wood fire reaches up to the dramatic, vaulted ceiling that is lined in honey coloured wood with darker beams. A window high above the bed, a little like a church window, throws extra light into the space. The decor relies on cosy, country-style, timber furniture and a muted caramel colour scheme changing to reds and creams in the ensuite.

Special Features:

The Shed Cafe offers a warm welcoming ambience and friendly service. Overlooking the delightful gardens, olive grove and the valley beyond, the sunny deck is a favourite spot for lunch or even just a cappuccino and cake. In summer the shade sails are out. In winter, a cosy, intimate dinner indoors is not to be missed.
The Shed Cafe caters for casual dining and a la carte dinners on Friday and Saturday, lunch and casual dining on Sunday and Monday. It is fully licensed and proudly offers wines from the local Goulburn Valley vineyards. The menu changes, depending on the availability of local produce, the weather and what takes the cook's fancy on the day.
