Property Description: Historic Villa Donati is a two storey Italianate villa restored to capture the essence of the European pensione. The spacious guest sitting room and café style breakfast area ensure privacy and personalised attention as you would expect in a boutique hotel. All rooms are luxuriously appointed and furnished individually with a blend of European, Asian and Australian antiques and fine arts. Classic and stylish are appropriate descriptors.
Like its vibrant surrounding area, Villa Donati has an interesting history. Built for the renowned architect John Bernard Augustus Koch (Mayor of Richmond in the late 1890s) it later became home to the Anglican Archbishop. The wonderful façade with its heavy, ornate arches and columns is a distinctive element of the period that harks to Renaissance grandeur. Views of the city skyline from the guest sitting room are especially captivating at night. Villa Donati certainly ranks as somewhere to be enjoyed and appreciated.
|
Special Features: Villa Donati's location offers appealing proximity to colourful cafés, restaurants and shops in Bridge Road and Swan Street, as well as being very handy to key sports and entertainment venues, galleries and the city environs.
