Property Description:
Despite the name this is in fact an independent, two-bedroom house and not a studio space. It goes to show what a bit of flair and imagination can do with a humble, little dwelling. The internal space has been reconfigured, removing walls and combining rooms, to create a much greater sense of space. The main bedroom comfortably fits a king size bed. There's a queen size bed in the smaller, second bedroom. The new bathroom, however, is as big as the main bedroom and it has a modern designer fit out with a double spa, large shower and beautiful, timber joinery.

Three rooms have been merged into a flowing open plan space with distinct areas for reading, lounging, eating and cooking. Its light, spacious feel also comes from a raised ceiling and double glass doors on the kitchen side opening onto the balcony. White walls and polished timber floors are a pleasant backdrop for a rich and quirky selection of wall art, feature cushions, wooden occasional tables, woollen rugs and funky ornaments. A dark, oversized, leather couch is the focal point of the lounge. The kitchen has been equipped for guests who like to cook and not just the weekend breakfast.

On the outside, the house has a shady verandah that starts on ground level at the front door and wraps around the side of the house, becoming a raised balcony at the rear. The balcony doubles as an outdoor entertainment area with glass doors leading out from the kitchen. Easy chairs and tables provide places to park and enjoy the bush outlook with a glimpse of mountain. The external changes include chunky timber posts, au natural, supporting the extended verandah/ balcony roof, recycled brick paving outside the front door and slate grey exterior walls.

The casual, funky elements and the attention to bathroom and kitchen fittings are notable features of "Woodbox" properties (see also Woodbox Retreat)
