Property Description:
The grounds of Woolrich comprise five acres of woods with winding paths, grand old trees, towering rhododendrons and massive azaleas spread through this magic garden. The weeping beech and the American tulip tree are amongst the biggest in Victoria. Lyrebirds wander through the garden and are a regular sight.
The weatherboard cottage was built in the 1920s for Ted Woolrich who started the former nursery from which these established tree have grown. The home's Art Deco features have been retained and restored during a major renovation to create this elegant accommodation. Fine furniture complements the period architectural features such as the Art Deco leadlight windows. The ambience is altogether alluring.
The cottage layout includes two bedrooms, walk through robes and large ensuites, so two couples can enjoy equal luxury. A special feature is an indoor, four person Jacuzzi/ spa under a glass skylight..
The lounge room has an open fire, and a bay window on the east accommodates the dining table, bathed in morning sun. The front verandah rounds the corner to a large deck overlooking the gardens to mountain views. The kitchen has also benefitted from the renovation sporting granite benchtops and a fashionable farmhouse sink. Doors open onto the large deck which is equipped with a barbecue and outdoor furniture for alfresco dining.

Special Features:
A special bonus for garden lovers, Woolrich guests are welcome to wander through the adjoining Cloudehill gardens. Cloudehill is a spectacular example of landscaping based on 'garden rooms' in the English tradition. It is noted for its herbaceous borders, outstanding collections of rhododendrons, peonies and maples, including stunning red Japanese weeping maples. Stone walls and hedges segregate the rooms devoted to different plantings. There is even a flowering meadow. Unlike the short English seasons, Cloudehill benefits from longer peak flowering conditions. The nursery sells many rare plants and Woolrich guests can enjoy lunch or morning and afternoon tea at the cafestaurant.

Description of Rooms/Units:
There are two bedrooms: one has a king size bed which can split into two singles, the other has a queen size bed. Luxury bed linen is provided, and delicious Wild Patch Chocolates can be found by your bedside. A walk in robe/dressing room leads off each bedroom and into an ensuite bathroom. The bathrooms have an oval bath with a large shower head above, contemporary hand basin, Art Deco leadlight windows, mirror and light fittings. Plush towels, cotton bathrobes, hairdryer and a range of Australian made Serendipity toiletries are provided.
The dedicated spa room contains a decadent four person Jacuzzi tub.
The lounge-dining room has leadlight double doors from the hallway, a romantic open fireplace and a bay window with wonderful views. A circular, antique dining table is among the elegant furniture that adorns the room. Facilities include high definition television, DVD, CD player and wireless internet, with selections of books, magazines, movies and CDs to enjoy.
The kitchen is equipped with a full size fridge, Miele stove and dishwasher, and espresso coffee maker. A complimentary bottle of bubbly, loose leaf tea (from the specialist tea shop in Sassafras) and freshly ground coffee are provided, as well as delicious breakfast ingredients and a bowl of fruit. There is a minibar which offers snacks and nibbles as well as wine, beer, and other alcoholic beverages at listed prices. |
