From Lorne to Apollo Bay the road hugs the ocean with dense forest and sometimes pastureland srawling down to the road's edge. The road is carved into the side of the steep hills winding back and forth with every contour - each bend revealing another breathtaking view. The road cuts across forest country at Cape Otway, and returns to more open landscape after the Johanna turn offs. The next section to Port Campbell is famous for the Twelve Apostles, and other amazing limestone formations that stand separated from the mainland and buffeted by waves and wind.
