NOTE: The February 7, 2009 bush fires tore through some parts of the Yarra Valley causing devastation and tragic losses. But be assured there are still plenty of great reasons for visitors to stay awhile - including fabulous food and wine, superb hospitality, small country towns with antique shops and gourmet produce stores, and, yes, beautiful vineyard and bush landscapes. With the autumn rains have come new life. Verdant green pasture and verges have replaced the parched and burnt ground. The vines are shedding their brilliant yellow leaves in preparation for their winter dormancy. In the burnt bushland, unstoppable nature is on the renewal path, with exuberant green growth sprouting from blackened trunks. Now is a great time to witness the rebirth of the Valley and bolster the local economy as it struggles to overcome the financial and emotional losses of Black Saturday.
